Where is Maserati From?

What country is Maserati made in? The five Maserati brothers - Alfieri, Bindo, Carlo, Ettore, and Ernesto - founded the auto company in the town of Bologna in northern Italy in December of 1914. Where is Maserati from? Maserati vehicles were manufactured in Bologna until 1940, when the headquarters were relocated to Modena, Italy, an hour outside of Bologna. Genuine Maserati parts and vehicles continue to be produced in Modena to this day.

Here are some fun facts regarding Maserati history and the Maserati brand:

  • The Maserati trident logo is a tribute inspired by the famous Fountain of Neptune in the Piazza Maggiore in Bologna. It was designed by the artist Mario Maserati, who was a brother of the original founders.
  • The Maserati mission is to "build ultra-luxury performance automobiles with timeless Italian style, accommodating bespoke interiors, and effortless, signature sounding power."
  • You can visit the Maserati plant in Modena, Italy, and take a guided tour of the showrooms and factory assembly line. The Modena plant has recently been modernized to house production of the MC20, and now boasts a new engine hub, the Maserati Engine Lab, and a completely new Paintshop.
  • Additional manufacturing facilities: The Agnelli Plant in Grugliasco, Italy primarily makes the Quattroporte and Ghibli, and the Mirafiori Plant in Turin, Italy makes the Levante SUV. The new Grecale SUV is manufactured at the Cassino plant in the town of Piedimonte San Germano, Italy.
  • Who owns Maserati? After being owned by a few different parent companies over the decades, Maserati is now owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and is in a brand group with Alfa Romeo, another Italian luxury car company. FCA is a multi-national Italian/American corporation headquartered in London, England and Amsterdam, Netherlands. Since its ownership by FCA, Maserati has been steadily growing in the auto industry.
  • Maserati partners include fashion designers like Bulgari and Ermenegildo Zegna who help create the luxurious interiors that the brand is famous for. Another important partner is Bowers and Wilkins who design the premium Maserati sound systems.
